This is such a big thing nowadays that it fully deserves its own website, let alone this small page. See, most of the Western commercial world has suddenly realised that most of the Western Joe Bloggs world goes to Google first for just about any online query. So most of the Western commercial World (excluding South Africa at this stage – which is a good thing for those few locals who are onto this trend!) spends billions of dollars annually on:
- Optimising websites for SE ranking right from the word go
- Ensuring they stay optimised for a space where the rules change every day
- Extracting huge value out of mining the amazing reporting and tracking that you can do on SE generated site traffic
- Pay per Click. PPC is a match made in heaven between paid for placement and search engine traffic. Essentially a PPC campaign can leapfrog your key search phrase over all the other non-paying riff raff to a point in front of a Google or yahoo punter’s nose. Best of all, only if a punter clicks on it, do you then pay - for what is effectively a pre-qualified lead who is coming a–knocking on your website’s front (or interior) door. Suffice to say that this is the fastest growing marketing space in the world by a long shot (followed fairly closely incidentally by social media stuff) for a whole lot of verrrry good reasons.
